Prism Next: privacy, terms and safeguarding
Version 1.0.0 · issued 7 October 2026
Operator review notice: deployment details have not yet been verified. Member and app-only launch access remain closed until setup is complete; administrators may preview.
1. A short notice for young people
You can use Prism Next independently or with a supporter. No young person’s name, email, birth date, school name or private diary is requested by the app. Your school, college or an appropriate adult can arrange access without a youth account. Eligible adults, including people aged 18, may use their own membership account under the site’s rules.
The reflection counts selected approaches in 24 scenarios. It does not diagnose personality, measure intelligence or predict achievement. You can skip, stop, disagree with a result or go straight to skills practice. All four approaches are open to you.
Your answers stay in the open page unless you choose saving on a private browser. There is no parent or teacher dashboard. A supporter sees only what you choose to show on the screen or a printout. Hosting and access records are separate, as explained below.
The app has no messages or human monitoring. If you need help, contact a trusted person or appropriate service. A supporter may have safeguarding duties if you tell them about harm; ask them to explain those duties. At 18, support and information-sharing should respect your adult status and applicable local rules.
2. Privacy notice
Who is responsible?
Prism is a division of Safetyman International Limited, the operator responsible for the Prism Next service described here. A school, college or another site operator may separately control its own access and account records. Its notice must explain those roles and any processor or joint-controller arrangements.

App information
The app processes scenario choices, selected goals, practices completed here, school/college wording preference, independent/supported mode, a preset study plan, a preset review response and accessibility settings. It asks for no free-text personal notes or identifying details. These choices are not submitted to WordPress, copied into a member account or shared with an AI service. There is no advertising, analytics, tracking of reading behaviour, remote scoring or personalised marketing added by the app.
Reflection results are transparent counts, including visible ties. The four colours are teaching aids for approaches, not established scientific types or learning styles. No result is used by the plugin for automated decisions about admission, grades, treatment or access. It does not assess mental health or neurodevelopment.
Browser saving and printing
By default, progress is held in page memory and disappears on closing or reloading. Optional saving uses one localStorage entry, prism-next-v1, in this browser and website. It is unencrypted and can be read by someone with browser access or by other scripts on the same website. Saving is unsuitable for shared devices.
Saved progress expires seven days after the last save and is removed when the app next opens. Expiry is not remote deletion while the page remains closed. Switching saving off removes the saved copy; Clear everything also clears current app progress. Ending app-only access through the app’s button attempts to clear browser progress as well as revoke the grant; if JavaScript is disabled or storage is unavailable, clear site data through browser settings. Ordinary WordPress database backups do not contain browser-only answers.
The optional timer runs only in the current page and pauses when it is hidden or left. It sends no notifications and uploads no session activity. Printouts may pass through the operating system or printer service and can be seen by others. You choose whether to print and must protect or dispose of the copy appropriately. Separate paper notes or screenshots are additional records, outside the app.
Member access, app-only sessions and cookies
WordPress and the membership provider may process the arranging adult’s or eligible adult member’s account, credentials, subscription status, billing and transaction records. Their notices and purchase agreement govern those records. The plugin checks entitlement on each protected request.
An authorised member can issue a single-use launch ticket, valid for five minutes, for use in a separate guest/private browser. Once redeemed, an opaque app-only cookie provides up to one hour of server access, subject to continued sponsor entitlement. The ticket/grant stores the sponsor’s WordPress user ID, an expiry time and hashed random identifiers. It stores no young person’s identity or answers. This cookie permits the app only and does not sign someone into WordPress.
The cookie is HttpOnly, SameSite Strict and secure on the required HTTPS launch route. A replay-prevention claim is scheduled for cleanup after ten minutes; actual cleanup depends on WordPress scheduled tasks running. Expired ticket/grant rows are subject to WordPress transient cleanup and database backup retention. Temporary ticket URLs may appear in browser history and server logs: do not post or send them publicly. Ending app-only access deletes its grant and expires the cookie. Expiry or revocation prevents subsequent server access; already loaded content can remain in a browser until it is closed. It is not remotely erased.
Using a launch in an already signed-in browser does not remove existing WordPress cookies or account privileges. Use a separate guest/private browser for independent activity and close it afterwards. Do not share personal account passwords.
WordPress sign-in uses authentication cookies. Hosting and security providers may receive IP addresses, request times, browser details and access logs. Other site plugins may introduce additional technologies; the operator must audit and disclose them. Optional browser saving is separate from terms agreement and does not authorise marketing.

Your choices and rights
You can use skills activities without reflection or saving. You can change mode, stop, withdraw the saving choice and clear progress. To ask about operator-held records, contact the privacy address above. Depending on the processing and applicable law, rights may include access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection, portability and withdrawal of consent where consent is relied on. Rights have legal conditions and exceptions. The operator cannot retrieve browser-only answers from its server.
You may complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk, or the relevant supervisory authority where you live. At 18, no automatic parental access to operator-held information is granted by this plugin. Safeguarding or legally required sharing must follow applicable law and the operator’s published process.
3. Terms of use
Prism Next is a research-informed educational prototype for ages 12–18. It supports reflection and practice in learning, communication and self-management. It is not therapy, diagnosis, a validated personality assessment, a safeguarding reporting channel or an AI counsellor. Outcomes are not guaranteed.
Independent and supported use are both available. A supporter should explain the activity and respect the young person’s choice to skip, stop or disagree. Do not use a colour mix to rank, select, group, discipline or label learners, identify SEND, infer ability or decide a future pathway. Do not require public disclosure or colour badges. Do not substitute an activity for qualified support where needed.
Access requires an eligible member or valid app-only grant. The arranging member must have authority to provide access and follow school, college and local requirements, including any age-specific parental authorisation or institutional permission required by the chosen lawful basis. The in-app acknowledgement is not a substitute for that process. Do not share passwords, publish launch links or bypass access controls. Institution-based arrangements and adult contractual acceptance are managed separately from the app. Membership prices, renewal, cancellation and refunds belong in the purchase agreement; this plugin does not create those commercial terms.
Authorised members receive limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable permission to use the material for private or licensed educational activity during their access. Participants may print their own snapshot and toolkit for personal learning. Wider distribution, commercial training, resale, republishing, translation or incorporation into another product needs written permission or an appropriate licence, except where the law permits use.
Use the service lawfully and respectfully. Keep device progress private, clear shared devices and protect printouts. The operator may maintain or update the service and restrict access for expiry, security concerns or material breaches, subject to applicable contract and law. Material notice changes should be communicated where required.
Nothing excludes liability where exclusion is unlawful, including for fraud or death or personal injury caused by negligence, or removes mandatory consumer rights. The operator’s membership agreement should set any applicable governing-law and jurisdiction provision while respecting mandatory local protections.
4. Safeguarding and wellbeing
There is no inbox, human review of answers or emergency response in this app. Use fictional practice scenarios. Do not request private images or ask young people to recount harmful events publicly. If a concern is disclosed to an educator or supporter, they must follow appropriate safeguarding procedures and explain any necessary sharing. Do not promise secrecy or record disclosures in ordinary app or study notes.
Verified safeguarding contact and response arrangements:
Awaiting verified safeguarding details
In immediate danger use local emergency services; in the UK call 999 or 112. Childline supports people under 19 in the UK on 0800 1111 or at childline.org.uk. External services have their own privacy and confidentiality arrangements. At 18, use appropriate adult and student-support routes where relevant.
5. Accessibility and inclusion
Text and symbols accompany colours; activities are untimed and skippable. Larger reading text and animation controls are available, and the app follows device reduced-motion preferences. Supporters should accept usual communication methods, adapt the task/environment and offer a non-screen alternative. Eye contact, stillness or a particular emotional display are not requirements. Test devices and assistive technology before deployment and contact the operator for accessibility feedback.
